Our story
KeySpot Stays was founded by James Hankee in 2024 after seeing how many San Diego property owners were leaving revenue on the table — underpriced listings, outdated photos, slow guest response times — simply because they didn't have the time or tools to manage a short-term rental like a real business.
The model is straightforward. We take over pricing, marketing, and guest communication for owners who want to keep their property but stop doing the day-to-day themselves. Owners keep ownership and control. Guests get a well-run, professionally managed stay. Essentials owners arrange cleaning, restocking, and maintenance themselves. With Complete, we manage those services through San Diego providers, arrange pre-arrival inspections, and provide a dedicated performance advisor local to San Diego.
We're intentionally staying small while we grow — every property we manage is known and personally overseen, not handed off to a queue.
